WCC Newsletter - May 2010
Hello from the Waterloo Cycling Club,
It's only been three weeks since our last newsletter, but we have a few things to tell you about that just can't wait.
WCC Beaver Valley Road Ride
The first annual Beaver Valley road ride is happening Sunday May 16th. This is a 112 km ride (shorter route available) just west of Collingwood. There's no charge to WCC members and it's sure to be alot of fun. Please go to http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/1072 for more details and the route map. A signup form is there as well.
WCC Trail Day (Morning Only)
After an amazingly successful trail day a few weeks ago, Igor and Ron have already planned out the next upgrade. The next trail day is Saturday May 15th at 8:30am. Meet at the Snyders Road parking lot (not the main parking lot). Road riders and non WCC members are welcome. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the forest and some friends in a different environment. A new trail in the forest by Dead Camel will add several new kilometers of forest trail. King Street Cycles are supplying lunch once the work is done, so please register so they can bring enough food. Please visit http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/1057 for more information and the registration.
Rail Rides
There are several maintained rail trails in the area and we're looking at organizing a weekly club rail trail ride. This would be suited for all bike types; hybrid, road, mountain, or cruiser. The rail trails usually pass through forests and along waterways so provide a nice relaxed cycling environment without cars. We're thinking that this could be a Thursday evening ride. If you are interested in either attending, or helping lead this type of ride, please click here to contact Scott Simpson .
Clothing Order
The Sugoi Jersey's (not WCC Trails Jerseys) are ready for pickup at King Street Cycles now. The black Sugoi Shorts, black Sugoi Bibs, as well as the WCC Trails Jersey will take a few more days. Please keep an eye on http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/1036 for the most up to date information.
WCC Womens Road Biking Clinic
The Womens Road Biking Clinic is coming up this Saturday. There may still be time to get in on this if you aren't signed up already. Please visit http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/961 for more information.
Tour de Waterloo
Signup now for the first annual Tour de Waterloo on Sunday June 20th. Tour de Waterloo is not a race but an opportunity to ride the beautiful, Waterloo/Wellington region area roads supported with marked routes, route marshals and a couple of rest stops for those who need to replenish water bottles or snacks. Award winning food, barbecued on-site by Hog Tails Barbecue restaurant will be provided once you’ve completed your ride back at Kiwanis Park. The Park offers a lake-like swimming pool on the banks of the Grand River, so don’t forget your bathing suit, towels and lawn chairs. Please see http://tourdewaterloo.com for the most up to date information.
