Stay Far Away From the Giant Hogweed
There are some plants in WCC trails that have been marked with orange paint. These are called Giant Hogweed. They are very poisonous to the touch and can cause blindness.
When you are looking for GHW here are a few key things to look for:
- Purple dot/lines near the base of the stock
- Hairs on the stock
- An umbrella shaped white flower at the top of the plant
- The leaf is like a massive distorted maple leaf with small hooks on the edges
If you see any more Giant Hogweed in the region, please contact Katrina. See http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/1220#comment-417
Thanks,
