Are the Thursday road rides still happening - 6:30pm across from St Jacob's Outlet Mall?

They have been going on. I missed last week - the few weeks before last haven't had many showing up but we still get enough to go out.
I'll be out tonight.

It's a great night for a bike ride. See you there. There will be at least three of us,

You guys didn't wait? I was 3 minutes late by my watch... obviously there might be a discrepency. I ended up have a lonely ride into the wind St. Jacobs, Three Bridges, Hawksville, Linwood (road under construction) Crosshill, Wellesley... and managed to keep the intensity low which is important for me.

We did wait a little after 6:30 by my watch. It wasn't really a low intensity night though, we were doing 33-36 into the wind and 39-40+ with the wind at our backs - a pretty healthy pace.

You going out tonight Tom?

What's the route? How far? And why was everyone trying to kill each other last week? That's Tuesday nights. ;)

They say it takes 5 weeks to recover fuly from IM. So, I'll start out with you guys, but I can't go hard for 3 hrs just yet.

Mike, I see that you're online right now. You should come out too.

I will indeed be out tonight.

The route will depend on the wind, usually around 60km +/-10km. I personally enjoy the route out to Elora and back.
As long as it's established early that people don't want to go hard we'll lay off and go easy. Last time we started to jump and had 5 guys willing to keep the pace, so we did. I don't have a problem with having a nice and easy night tonight. I'm still working off my long weekend beer anyways!!

See you tonight!

Yaa ! No kidding !

I was holding 160 into the wind. And my MaxHR is probably 175-180 on the bike!

That said, I should have known something was amiss when we hit hawesville hill (steep side) and within seconds I look up and you and the boys are already at the top.

I have a new philosophy. If you ever roll up to a group ride and everyone is talking about sore legs and taking it easy. Forget that crap. Get ready for a painfest. ;))))

Seriously. That was a good ride. Mike and I rode back together. Pretty fast too, but none of this 45kph stuff you and Blake were holding.

Brilliant evening to be out on the road. I'm really glad we checked in earlier in the day and agreed to go out together. Otherwise, it might have just been you and Blake.

If weather permits, I'll see you on Tuesday. In group 3....though you should be in group 2.

Alain

P.S. Congrats to Mel Bunn. That's one heck of a TT record.

Sitting on my bike in the parking lot at st jaccobs by myself. I think the clouds must have scared everyone away :( looks like a solo ride into the wind tonight.

Missing you,
-the lonesome rider, Tom =P

So sorry Tom.

I left work early to buy my son his first pair of glasses. Expected to get home in time to ride with you. Who knew it would take an hour and a half to find "cool" specs for a kid???

You're probably still on the road as I write this. Looks dark out there at 7:45. Hopefully someone showed up.

Clearly you have your IPod and I carry my BB. I'll e-mail you directly on my BB next time we are trying to coordinate last minute details.

Don't sweat it, cool glasses are way more important! Especially since school started back up!

I took it easy and only rode for about an hour and a half. It was pretty chilly out tonight. I threw on a long sleeve shirt under my jersey to keep warm and when I got home my toes, of all things, were frozen! Had a tiny drizzle here and there but no major amounts of water falling out of the sky thankfully.

I carry my iPhone with me pretty much everywhere, especially when biking just in case something happens. So in the future feel free to email directly. Maybe that's where this twitter business would come in handy. I've tried to come up with practical reasons to use it, but I don't have enough people in my network of friends who use it to gain any real benefit.

By the way, how's that collarbone feeling Mike? What's the ETA to be back in a saddle? I'm assuming you'll be done for the rest of this season?

Sorry about that, I figured I would be the lonesome rider so I just headed out from home for a ride.

We should do a head count on here during the day on Thursdays to see if anyone is heading out.

Once I start helping Scott with some of the website perhaps I can come up with some kind of 'Ride check-in' module that will let users indicate if they plan showing up or not. Not sure if it would be practical or not.

Hey Tom

My wife and I are expecting our first in late October so she's urging me to take it easy in pacing to getting back to riding outside again. Luckily for more, her brother and father have both broken there collarbones bones before so she'd dealt with it :) I've been riding my exercise bike so my overall fitness shouldn't have dropped too much, but my endurance obviously has. Officially, I go for x-rays at the end of the month, but I hope to be back on the bike next week for at least some short rides, my left arm obviously is really weak so I don't want to push it too hard and fubar my recovery. I tried running last weekend and that only lasted about 10 minutes before I started feeling uncomfortable. Overall my shoulder is feeling better and stronger, but I'm really focusing on taking my time and not rushing back. Hopefully would be up for some longer rides by late October to early November. I have no intentions to ride when there is snow on the ground. So I hope the snow holds off :)

Sorry Adam, I thought I had mentioned on our last ride I'm out of town this week.
Up north in the good ole town of Sault Ste Marie. Had a couple nice rides up here, few 60kms with some sault clubbers and a nice 100km suffer fest today out to the ski hills north of town against some wicked wind (and some good hill climbs too.)

Will be back and ready for action next week though for sure, and hopefully with power numbers! =)

Did you end up having anyone else to ride with?

I was all by myself, but I kind of figured it would be that way. It actually worked out alright, I had told a friend in Elmira I would swing by after the ride to help him figure out his new central vac so I just threw my smallest multi-meter in my pocket and came home by his place and gave him a hand. It wasn't a half bad night other than the wind.

See you next week

A few weeks back I bought a Garmin Edge 705 and PowerTap SL+ from a guy in Quebec for about half price, brand new still in the boxes. Had Ziggy's put together a custom wheel for me with the hub. It's nice to have some tangible data for training purposes. It'll play a big part in my riding =)

Would like to come out but right now I don't think 30 bucks plus gas is worth it for an hour and a half of riding. I have the bike show this weekend to spend money on. ;)

I will be going regularly starting November; I'll be buying the trial membership for two months and will most likely extend it after that. Once my rentals and everything is included, it becomes a bit more wallet friendly.

I'll just hit the gym tonight, it's about that time of the year to start hitting some weights again anyways.
