We are now taking 2012 memberships online.  Signup early to make sure you lock in your 2012 membership at 2011 prices.  There's a good chance that prices will increase soon because of an OCA price increase.

Hello and welcome to the Waterloo Cycling Club's Membership information page.  Some things have changed with our club lately partly due to insurance regulations and partly due to our own regulations. The important thing to consider is that by joining the Waterloo Cycling Club (WCC) you are not just passively signing up for membership. By joning the WCC you are joining a group of local cyclists who are keen to improve themselves and their cycling environment. Also, by joining the WCC you must understand that while we take steps to make the rides and other events as safe as we can, there are always risks.

Please understand that the WCC cannot allow non-members to join our rides. Previously we allowed people to test us out to see if we fit your needs before asking you to join.  A directive from the insurance company prohibits this practise so we must insist that everyone join the WCC if you plan to do any riding with us at all.  Period.  Sorry for any inconvenience or embarassment this may cause.  Don't come to the rides expecting to participate unless you are a card-carrying (and sticker-bearing) member.  See below to find out how you make that happen.  It's also a courtesy to all the people who spend so much time and energy to make this club what it has become today.

How much does it cost...

We are completely run by volunteers, the OCA (Ontario Cycling Association) insurance fee is most of the membership cost. 

All memberships fees are on a calendar year.  (They expire on Dec 31st) 

How to sign up...

You can sign up online anytime, by following the process outlined below.  If you complete everything electronically you should receive an email welcoming you to the club within a day or two.  At this point, you can join our rides.  It may take up to two weeks for you to receive your card in the mail. 

A) If you haven't already created your free website account, please do this first.  You must have a website account before you can even fill in the online membership form.  If you have a website account, skip to section B) below.

Creating a web site account is the first step that you must complete before you can even fill in the form to join the club.  The web site account is free and allows  you to participate in the forums but it doesn't enable to you attend rides.  This is your connection to us and other members in the cycling community who may not be members of the club. 

1. Click the Create New Account link at the bottom right.  For this step, you will only be asked for your email address, name and city. 
2. You will receive an email that you will have to acknowledge in order for your web account to be enabled.  We have to manually activate all new web accounts to keep spammers out, but typically it only takes a few hours to get your email
   
   THESE FIRST TWO STEPS ONLY GET YOU A WEB ACCOUNT.  THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS A WCC MEMBERSHIP THAT IS REQUIRED TO JOIN RIDES. FOR THE WCC MEMBERSHIP, COMPLETE SECTION B) BELOW.
    

B) Please follow these 3 steps to become a member of the Waterloo Cycling Club

Please try to use electronic payment and waiver submission if you can.  Aside from becomming a member usually within a day, the electronic payment and waiver submission saves us alot of volunteer time.  We will accomodate you if you don't have the ability to pay online or send us an electronic copy of the waiver but we only check the mail once per week at most and we cannot allow anyone to ride until we've received all membership information.

1. The Form: Fill in the on-line WCC Membership Application Form (Click here to fill in the online form).  You must fill this form out each year so we can keep your records up to date.  This information is secure and not available to anyone on the web. 
2. The Payment: After the form is submitted, you'll be shown your web cart.  Please use this to checkout.  You will be redirected to the PayPal site which will securely accept your payment information.  Please use PayPal (or credit card) instead of a cheque if possible.  You don't need a PayPal account, just provide the PayPal site with your credit card number to authorize the transaction.  We don't check the mail very often, so there could be a significant delay if you pay by cheque.  PayPal memberships are usually processed immediately and you'll get your card in a few days.
3. The Waiver: Print off the waiver (Click here for the waiver) and complete it.  Please be sure to read and understand the the waiver. Then, use one of the following to get it to us.
     A) Fax the completed, signed waiver to (519) 804-1574.  You don't need a fax cover sheet.
     B) or Email a scanned PDF copy of the completed signed waiver to waiver@waterloocyclingclub.ca
     C) or Take a picture of your signed waiver with your phone or camera and submit the .jpg.  Please make sure it's easily readable before sending it to  waiver@waterloocyclingclub.ca
     D) or Pay a business center like the UPS Store or Kinkos to fax it to us for between one and two dollars. 

Please remember that you aren't a member, and your card won't be mailed until we have all three things.  1) The application, 2) the waiver, and 3) the payment
