Trail Day Summary - Saturday November 5th

On Saturday November 5th many months of planning and effort came together on a beautiful sunny fall morning.   The WCC Trail Committee was able to install a huge upgrade to a boardwalk on the trail named Stinky Girl.  A group of nearly 40 volunteers hiked into the woods and proceeded to both remove the old crumbing boardwalk and assemble the new 270 foot long replacement.  The upgrade consists of 27 ten foot long sections supported on wooden piers.  The boardwalk allows mountain bikers and other trail users to pass safely over top of a wetland with virtually no impact while providing views of previously hidden sections of the woodlot.

The committee would like to thank everyone involved in the project but the following individuals and organizations in particular.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing the grant money that made the project possible.

John Swarbrick and the crew at JWS Woodworking who turned our grand plans into reality.
