The WCC Rides are Still Going Strong
All WCC rides are still happenning weekly except for the kids MTB ride. Make sure to make the most of the great weather. Please check the website for the latest information on all the rides.
WCC Newsletter - July 2011
Hello from the Waterloo Cycling Club
Once the good weather started, all the club rides have been running regularly. The only ride that has completed for the season is the Kids Monday Evening Mtb Ride. Make sure to check out the website to see the full ride program for Road, MTB, and Rec Touring rides.
Monday Evening Novice/Intermediate Mtb Ride
The Monday evening Novice/Intermediate mountain bike ride is continuing through the summer. Please make sure to come out and support this ride. If you are new to Mtb riding, looking for a ride that is a bit more relaxed than the Wednesday evening Mtb ride or just looking for two club Mtb rides per week, come on out to the trails at 6:30.
Wednesday Evening Novice Road Ride
Thank you for your support, Wednesday night road riders. There appears to be enough interest to keep the Wednesday Night Novice Road Ride running for the balance of this season. We will slowly start to lose daylight week by week for the remainder of the season, so try to make sure you are ready to ride by 6:30pm.
WCC Newsletter - June 2011
Hello from the Waterloo Cycling Club
This newletter shows some of the things going on with the club but make sure to check out the website to see the full ride program.
WCC Trail Mud Damage
After the unbelievably wet spring, the trails are finally starting to dry up. There has been a lot of damage (mud filled potholes) caused by people who continued to ride in the mud. Many of these holes will retain water for most of the year and will continue to erode unless we repair them. We're trying to educate everyone about how much work this makes for all of us so please make sure you pass the word around. If someone brags about how muddy they got riding the trails, please politely tell them that riding in the mud severely damages the trails. Please invite them to our site or a trail work activity to become involved. Some riders don't understand the correlation between riding in the mud and creating potholes. And they also may not know that the holes don't magically fill back up with dirt :)
May Newsletter
Hello from the Waterloo Cycling Club
Although we've had a slow start to the year, there are alot of events and activities starting soon. This newletter shows the highlights but make sure to check out the website to see the full ride program.
Upcoming Trail and Touring Events
The WCC Trails remain closed because of all the rain. If you are making tracks, you should not be riding.
All mountain bike rides are delayed and will not start until the week of May 9th. Please check the ride page of the rides you are interested in. If the rain continues, there may be further delays.
The first Recreational Touring Ride is still scheduled to occur this Sunday (May 1st) on the Kissing Bridge Trail. Please check the ride page at http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/recreationaltouringrides before you head out in case we are forced to postpone the ride.
The first King Street Cycles Demo Day is still scheduled for May 8th (weather permitting) between 10:00am and 3:00pm. We're all hoping the rain has stopped by then. Please check the forum for details http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/node/1659
We're planning a newsletter next week at which time we'll try to give a full update of the upcoming rides and events for May.

If you were at the membership night on Tuesday you saw firsthand how our club has been growing. This is 100% due to volunteers who help with rides, clothing, membership and events. Because of the fast growth, we immediately need help with the following. If you are available to help out for even just a few rides, we can schedule you in for the few days that work for you. Please consider helping if you have the skills.
Tuesday Evening Road Ride Leaders
We need seasoned road riders who have ridden with the club in the past and are comfortable leading groups 4, 5 or 6. We generally need about three leaders per week and each person can volunteer for as little as a night or two, not the whole season.
To sign up or learn more about what’s involved, please fill in the form at http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/helpleadtuesday

The Big Ride - September 12th
Every year the Waterloo Cycling Club holds our end of season ride to celebrate another great summer of riding and racing – the “Big Ride”. The intent behind the ride is two-fold: to get club members and friends together for one last big club road ride of the year and to raise funds for a great local cause – the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region.
This year’s ride will be on Sunday September 12 and will feature two routes:
