Trail Day Saturday November 5th at 9:00 am
An exciting trail day is coming up on Saturday Nov 5th 9:00am. Don't miss this one. It involves a crane!!! We'll be installing the new Stinky Girl boardwalk (prebuilt by JWS Woodworking) and building 50-60' of lead in trail.
Meet at the Glasgow parking area rain or shine at 9:00am. King Street Cycles will host a BBQ after the work is complete (~ 1:00pm)
We need 15-20 people overall. Teenagers willing to work can get community credit.
We need the following (if you can help with 1) or 2) please email trails@waterloocyclingclub.ca
1) 4-6 strong people to help load the trailer at 8:30am on Colby Dr.
2) 2-3 people with tall rubber boots to help remove old boardwalk wood
Please signup at http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/traildaysignupform to give us an idea of how many people to expect. If you forget to signup, please come by anyway. If you have trail tools (rakes, shovels, etc) please indicate that on the signup form.
Trail Funday this Sunday
Hello again trail enthusiasts. Just a friendly reminder of Trail Funday this Sunday (September 25th) from 11am to 3pm.
Our local bike shops have been working very hard to round up some great raffle items and draw swag. Not to mention factory test bikes- where is there a better a place to test mountain bikes than on your home trails!
The King Street Cycle BBQ will be in the house again this year so come hungry.
Please don't forget to support your trails-- either buying raffle tickets or bringing cash or chq to drop in the donation box.
Special thanks to King Street Cycles, McPhails and Ziggy's Cycle for their generous support!
See you Sunday!
Trail Changes
It is important that no one make ANY changes in the WCC Trails unless they are coordinated by the Trails Committee. This is a requirement as part of our agreement with the Region and it also helps us all maximize our enjoyment of the trails. This even includes cutting fallen trees, chopping roots, filling holes, etc. Just as you wouldn’t consider doing any of this type of work in Waterloo Park, please don’t work independently on the trails. If you have an idea or are interested in getting more involved, attending a trail day is the easiest way to start. There are many people who work on the trails outside of the trail days, and you are welcome to become one of them. Just please make sure to do it in harmony with the Trails Committee. Please contact trails@waterloocyclingclub.ca for more information or come out this Saturday (see the website for more information) to be part of our stewardship team.
Trail Day - Saturday November 13th
The trails are drying up and the weather forecast for the next little while is promising great riding conditions. The lucky riders that do get out will notice the latest exciting improvements in the Kamikaze Trail. Much has been done in the past few weeks, but we are not done yet. The volunteer crew is heading out again, on this Saturday, November 13th, from the Snyder's parking, at 8:30 am. The work day will be wrapped up at 1:00pm sharp, with the King Street Cycles BBQ lunch at the parking lot.
Please consider joining the work crew. To help us better plan the work and lunch preparation we'd like each volunteer to sign up here:
http://waterloocyclingclub.ca/traildaysignup Bring your own rake, shovel and wheelbarrow if possible.
Stay Far Away From the Giant Hogweed
There are some plants in WCC trails that have been marked with orange paint. These are called Giant Hogweed. They are very poisonous to the touch and can cause blindness. You can find more information by googling Giant Hogweed. They will be professionally removed shortly.

Trail Day - Saturday, June 26
On June 12th we had an unofficial Trail Day (without a barbecue lunch) because an urgent project needed to be done. Many people did sign up, so we planned the work according to the number of expected helpers. Presumably because of the bad weather forecast, not enough people showed up and the project didn't get finished.
Trail Day This Saturday
If you've been to the trails lately, you may have noticed a new gate between the Glasgow Parking Lot and the WCC Trails. We need to connect this new gate to the parking lot and the trails in a nice way to beautify the parking/entrance area. A big trail head sign is going to come soon which will also improve the first experience for new people, or out of town riders.
This new trail area is important since it gives any visitors their first impression of the trails.
Unfortunately, the timing of this trail day doesn't work well with KSC, so there won't be a BBQ. Sorry about that. We have to go ahead though because of work that the Region will need to do with the trail head signs.
