Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy

  1. Waterloo Cycling Club (the Organization) endeavours to ensure a safe and positive environment by making Members aware that there is an expectation, at all times, of appropriate behaviour consistent with the club’s core values. The Organization supports equal opportunity, prohibits discriminatory practices, and is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with dignity, respect and fairness regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnicity, citizenship, politics, creed, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or any other basis.

  2. We expect the spirit of these values to be honoured at all times members are participating in club activities or representing the club such as wearing club kit. This applies to live activities and virtual communities.

    1. Act with honesty and integrity and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the nature and responsibilities of the Organization’s business and the maintenance of individuals’ confidence

    2. Conduct themselves openly, professionally, lawfully and in good faith in the best interests of the Organization

    3. Behave with decorum appropriate to both circumstance and position

    4. Exercise the degree of care, diligence, and skill required in the performance of their duties pursuant to the laws under which the Organization is incorporated

    5. Respect the confidentiality appropriate to issues of a sensitive nature

    6. Have knowledge and understanding of the organization's rules and regulations

    7. Conform to the bylaws and policies approved by the Organization

    8. Respect that promotion of products or services are reserved for club sponsors

  3. The Organization’s Directors and Committee Members will have additional responsibilities to:

    1. Ensure that the Organization’s financial affairs are conducted in a responsible and transparent manner with due regard for all fiduciary responsibilities

    2. Be independent and impartial and not be influenced by self-interest, outside pressure, an expectation of reward, or fear of criticism

    3. Keep informed about the Organization’s activities, and general trends in the sectors in which they operate

    4. Respect the decisions of the majority and resign if unable to do so

    5. Commit the time to attend meetings and be diligent in preparation for, and participation in, discussions at such meetings

    6. Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all the Organization governance documents

  4. Members who fail to adhere to these standards may be subject to the Discipline and Complaints Policy.
